Malingering Mail

i was scanning old email earlier and found some poems written to me by a blue fairy about a couple of years ago. while i tried to keep in touch (just to keep in touch, really) with her by various means, she gave no indication whatsoever of a willingness to chat or exchange emails.

while scanning i found the reason:

SCAR

What is there in that?
To feel miserable about?
When you captured
A magical night
With a sylph.
And you yourself,
A wizard
Should know first-hand.
That to be with her--
Is to be with
Ether,
Frost-sigh,
And incense-smoke...
That which is,
Can not be
Because Sylphs
Are elusive
Accursed lives
They lead...
- Scar, Blue Fairy (name withheld for the obvious reason that i don't namedrop)

Fascinating creature this blue fairy. After my own heart, she'd rather have all or nothing - no in-between. A remarkable contrast to the present day "i'll take what i can get syndrome." we hit it off quite well first night but i never followed it up afterwards. we did go out again a couple of times and confirmed our mutual fascination but for some strange reason, i didn't pursue it further. maybe it was because i was attached then (i made it clear). and there are people who are sane enough to avoid those who are.

funny why i never saved my own outgoing messages - to her or for the matter to anyone else.

I have a box in my upper sanctum that contains all letters, cards, and whatnot from my previous years. all written correspondence i kept, and now that i have spent a good decade leaning on electronic media, i have neither sense nor shame to keep an archive of my deeds and misdeeds. i only began taking pictures of myself when im out of town but the accompanying words should be stored as well. Kai is the expert on this.

of course, for now this blog will have to do.

thanks for the suggestion, i'll keep that in mind. Im not sure about the market reception for a guy who blogs in boxer shorts the whole time.
