The Curious Case of the Waiting Room Waiting Time

"We are currently attending to patients who need our help more urgently. Your patience is appreciated"
- sign at the doctor's office


I'm well and good with that, but honestly, I come to the doctor's office at the first sign or symptom so I don't have to need your help more urgently.

The waiting time, i have it figured down to an exact science:

Average waiting time = 1 hour to arrive earlier than the schedule + 1 hour to wait for the doctor to arrive after his/her official clinic hours have started +  2 hours waiting for the patients who seem to be earlier than you no matter how early you arrive.

Then the consultation lasts for 5 minutes tops... we can't afford to keep the others waiting long.

Which is still good.

Even if the good doctor glances at my records, suggests a couple of tests, and asks me to come back again in two weeks.

"Only then we'll know for sure."

So now I know why you have to wait for the medical team to attend to urgent cases. It started as normal but the damn waiting time plus the back and forth led to complications and eventually tachycardia or whatever condition is on House MD.

Here's my surefire advice on getting the best medical care:
1. BE HEALTHY
2. DON'T BE SICK.

prologue: I hedged against writing this entry but i guess transparency won over everything else. Day Two: Diary of a Starfish

i hate Holy Week. Talk about invasion of privacy. What's so holy about that? One week a year and tourists go ape shit. I wish to God they'd be content to watch you in your natural habitat. But nooo. They pick you up, turn you around, and take stupid videos of you doing what comes naturally. Here i am, minding my own fucking business -- mind you, the harmless business of burying myself halfway in the sand, and feeding on plankton. Here's to a thousand hits

i wanted to write a couple of entries, but somehow the spirit is willing but the fingers are fat and tired. must be from doing all that weboggle. it's seriously addicting, and trying to reach the top 10 is somewhat of an unending challenge. try it yourself by visiting here . anyway, the celebration of the 1000th hit to my blog is too good to pass up so here i am at 1 in the morning writing an entry. I know it's not much compared to hits from google or yahoo, but having my blog viewed a thousand times is more than an achievement for me. it's been a crazy week at work with all the activities going on that i surprise myself for not being burned out yet. i do admit i'm having too much fun to derive some sense of fatigue out of it.
